We bring our little darling home this Sunday and I am not quite sure on this soaking thing!!

She is currently being fed Nutro puppy food, which we will keep her on for the time being as we don't want her tummy upset.

Embarassing question now......how exactly do you soak it?? Do you just pour what looks like the right amount of water over it ? How long do you leave it for? Are you supposed to soak it so that it turns to 'porridge' or just a softer version??

She will be 9 weeks when she comes home and we wish to try and keep her on soaked until she is 12wks then wean her onto dry.

TIA

I put just enough water in to cover the food and give it about 30 minutes to absorb the water. In some cases, my Amy for one, they prefer it dry. in that case I add the water immediatly before feeding. I normally soak until the adult teeth start coming through then change to just adding water before feeding until around a year old. At that point I change to feeding dry, but with water in a bowl beside the food.

Regards, John

Hi

I still soak abbeys food , i just cover it in warm water then leave it for 5 mins or so.
She doesnt seem to mind it soaked. I suppose each dog is different and likes it different ways !

I feed Abbey burns and it seems to soften very quickly.

Good luck for Sunday !
