Hello! I am pleased to be a new owner of Black lab puppy 8 weeks old. I would like to know who can advise me on which puppy food to feed him! He has been fed on weetabix and countrywide adult food to date! I want to change this but can't decide which to wean him on to. What do you feed yours?

Thanks
Vicky and Teddy Smile

Hello Vicki and Teddy, mine is now 18 weeks old and I was advised James Wellbeloved Pup, he is currently on the Fish and Rice variety which he loves and is thriving well!

Congrats on your new addition Vicky!

Puppy food comes down to personal choice really, and also what you can afford. Prices vary so much. If the puppy had already been weaned onto a decent puppy food, I would say stick with that for now, but Countrywide adult diet and weetabix probably not really that great! I am weaning my current litter onto Skinners Field & Trial Puppy food and they are thriving. Last litter also did very well on this and then if new owners wanted to change they could mix in the new diet gradually. I would suggest either speak to your vet (if you have appointment for vaccination soon) although they might have an expensive food like Science Plan that they will try and push you onto (if they're anything like my vet!) or get to your local feed store and see what takes your fancy. They should be able to guide you through the ranges. So many suppliers these days, essentially all the same, although some have fancy packaging and whopping pricetag!

Enjoy your new addition and best of luck.

I fed Royal Canin Puppy and Dylan thrived on it. In fact I only changed it because for some reason the adult version gave him terrible runs.

he is now 2 and a half and is on Orijen and doing well on that Very Happy

Welcome to LF any pix?? We do love puppy pix Very Happy

I feed Skinners Field & Trial puppy food and my current litter are thriving on it. Ultimately it's down to personal choice and availability, Skinners have their own website and you'll be able to find out the nearest supplier if you contact them, as it's not sold in places like P at H.

I'm a Burns fan, having used Burns High Energy Lamb for both Amber and Leo. Both of them have been calm/focused pups and I swear that the diet has something to do with that especially as they are different breeds -Amber is a Lab and Leo is a German Pointer.
