Hi all
Could someone please explain to me in simple terms what is meant by Lifetime cover and how this compares to Time Limited cover and Maximum Benefit.
Also what is meant by Ongoing condition limit - I realise it's to do with an ongoing condition but does this mean a condition which is declared on joining on just something which may rear it's head later?
Thanks all - pet insurance is a minefield!!!!

Minefield it is , you are not alone with confusion.
The Life time cover is the amount they are offering ie £6000 per year, will be what they will pay each year, and continue to pay that amount for life each year after, for life.
'The Maximum' for a policy that is for example is £4000 each policy year, it will have another amount that may have a £1000 maximum per condition in that policy year. so you could have 4 conditions but £1000 is all they will pay towards each condition for that year.
On going conditions limit I think, means they will stop paying when the limit is reached, probaly not a problem unless it is a very expensive condition, I would ask questions about that one.
I am also struggling with which to choose, Good Luck. You can ring me if you want to chat about it.

Time limited cover will only allow you to claim for any condition for 12 months, so after the first 12 months of for example diabetes you will not be able to make any further claims.
Ongoing condition limits will pay for any one condition for as long as it takes until you have reached the maximum (thought this may also apply within a time limited policy.
Lifetime cover generally means that they will continue paying throughout the lifetime of the animal as long as premiums are kept up.
True lifetime cover usually allows a maximum amount per year but you will pay a new excess for each condition each year.
I am with Direct Line and have their advanced policy which will cover any condition for the life of the animal to a maximum of £6000 per condition. I only pay one excess per condition. As far as I know I could have several claims running alongside each other and be able to claim up to £6000 per condition over the lifetime of my dog.
By the way I am happy with them and have had 3 claims so far which have all been settled with no problems. My policy started with an introductory £11 per month in the first year, £16 year two and £22 year three.

Hi,
If you can afford the extra premiums for lifelong cover, then this is recommended, as it will cover your lab for any ongoing conditions & illnesses should they arise. We've got a page dedicated to comparing lifelong policies on our site if it's of any use: http://comparepetcare.co.uk/lifelong-pet-insurance/
Hope that helps
Thanks, Greg
