Hi There,
Just wondering what the Water Park place is like for allowing doggies off-lead and whether there is a general on/off lead Get Together policy for having so many labs together? Were they all kept on lead last year - or was there a spcific area where they could be off lead and have a play? The same goes for the Waddle and Toddle. Just so that I know to at least bring their flexis if they always need to be on the lead.
We took Finley to a Leonberger camping weekend last year and where the camping was, all dogs were kept on lead, I guess because with so many big male entire dogs and bitches and people arriving to unpack their tents in cars etc, it might have been recipe for trouble. However, there were woodland areas where we could take our dogs off lead.
Looking forward to it anyway!
Cheers
Neil, Cynthia, Finley and Elwood

They were kept on leads - but it didnt spoil the fun in any way Very Happy When you see how many there are, you'll know why Laughing

Flexi leads will be ideal!

I was also wondering this. I can understand why should be kept on lead most fo the time but, Will there be any walks or similar where we can let them off-lead for a romp? Or would we individually have to take them for walks to let them off-lead?
Thanks x

Hi Jill,

Ive just looked on the web site an this is what it says -

Dogs must be kept on a lead in Visitor Centre courtyards, in car parks and in designated picnic areas
In other areas please keep your dog on a short lead or under very close control
Never let your dog out of your sight
Please be aware of other park users
Dogs are not permitted in any of the play areas
ALWAYS CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOG using the doggy bin provided

So I'm sure it would be fine to take Leo off, if you wanted to take him for a run. The park covers 600 acres Very Happy

That was one of the problems I found last yr. We took them for the sponsored walk but weren't allowed to have them off the lead. (this yr I'll have 3 dogs on the lead Shocked )

Everyone still enjoyed themselves but it did seem like such a shame - all that water and space and still on their leads.

Thanks for that info Fay! Smile
What i might do is bring Leos 30ft long line with me. That way if we do go for a walk, then i have him under control at all times, but he can still get to romp and run around.
I can't wait!!!!! Very Happy

Oh....I was looking forward to letting Doobs have a good run around a splashing around in the water! Sad

A dog walk I went to last year at the Cotswold Water Park, we could let them off lead and there were about 25 - 30 dogs! They were all well supervised and only great fun was had!

I'll have to keep Charlie generally on a lead. He could be a nightmare around a campsite otherwise, especially when other people have food and drink around.

Will have to decide if and when to let him romp somewhere when we are there and can see what is what.

Helen.

I am sure you are right Fay - we are still really excited about coming. Think I will invest in a flexi lead! Any recommendations?
