Just sorting Jake's insurance, god lord what i pain!!! spotted on another thread a few days ago a link to the above site, basically it is £18 per month for the following
£10,000 vets fees per year
Lifelong cover
Complementary therapy
One price irrespective of breed, postcode or age
Cover for dental treatment
£1 million third party liability
Only £80 excess
However if you read the claims page it says you have to ring for authorisation prior to any treatment, is this normal?
I so need to get this sorted today as i should have done it prior to his petplan expiring but i wasnt aware that you wasnt covered for 2 weeks .
It looks like a really good cover, but i have this "if it looks to good to be true" feeling about it to be honest.
So what to do!?!?, im getting brain freeze with it all now, what i really need is someone that knows what they are looking at, to point me in the direction on a good plan which i dont need to remortage the house for
I almost went with them Tandy as I thought they looked pretty good. I thought with their £18 regardless of age they wouldn't face the same price hike as other insurance companies but my bf found in their small print that they may put up the premium on renewal.
Apart from that they look pretty good, high vets fees without all the stuff I probably wouldn't want.
I'm in my cooling off period with Argos so I may still change.
I checked out vetsmedicover and argos and decided on argos in the end. The argos premium for platinum cover was about £2 per month more but VMC paid £10000 per year in total and argos did £7000 per condition per year unlimited which personally I preferred. We've got the kennel club cover for Molly from our breeder but I am starting Molly's cover on the 26th Jan to make sure when the Kennel club cover finishes I'm already outside the argos deferment period.
Thanks, yes I have done that. They appear to have good reviews for service but not seen many reviews regarding claims being settled yet, will keep digging.
I am with them.
Toby was insured from 1st jan and fell ill on sunday 6th feb, not sure what the total vets bill is, but i've paid £80 excess direct to the vets and i think the rest is sorted out between vetsmedicover and the vets direct.
someone from vmc phoned me today to talk about what happened, seemed very nice and i can see no problems.
i didn't inform them before treatment either as it was an emergency and my brain had gone, this has not been a problem.
Toby is now completely cured and slowly regaining the weight he has lost.
Gary.
We're with Direct Line and they recommend you phone them first before giving the go ahead to any treatment. I think this is for your own protection though so they can warn you what is not covered.
When I have had to make a claim for Coco I ring to ask for a form and they run through a whole list of maximum amounts payable (eg £x for blood tests, £x per night hospitalisation), if I have been unsure whether they would cover any part of the treatment or tests I have been able to query it there and then. I have not had any further contact with Direct Line as they have dealt straight with the vet. I pay any outstanding charges (eg excess or anything that would not be covered by insurance - though they have not refused anything so far).
That policy sounds really good, as long as they pay out when you need them to.
i have looked at them and they seem very good but i cant find any reviews as to how good they are regarding processing claims ect. i find it all so very mind boggling!!
