If it's any help, I've just bought a 42" one as our new pup is from quite stocky show lines. Her mum and dad are both huge hence I decided on the larger crate. My breeder did say however that usually the 36" ones are generally OK especially if they are from working lines.
Make sure you get a good one though, I've had crates before for cats and they can get the cheaper ones open - if a cat can do it a dog certainly can. Better to spend a bit more and go for the ones where there is a hook on the end of the bolt rather than just a flat bolt. That way, when you shut the door and slide the bolt over it hooks round so can't be opened unless you lift the outer handle. I don't think we're allowed to mention specific sellers on here but the ebay ads that show people standing on crates are the kind I mean

If I was you I'd get the bigger one; because if the one you get it too small, you'll feel guilty your dog hasn't got enough room and want to buy a bigger one. It's just six inches in it; so in terms of the room it takes up it's not going to make that much difference - but it could make a big difference to a dog spending the night in it.
Just from my experience!

The 42" is the one to go for, it`ll last her all her life if you want it too, CJ has a 36" for travelling but it wouldn`t be big enough for him as a full time thing, he`s on the large side for a Lab too and with your girl having GR in her she may well be taller than the average lab

Definitely get a 42". A 36" will be a tight fit for a full grown GR x Lab, as they are usually longer bodied and leggier than most Labs .
