Hi there

Is it ok for me to give Toby tuna. He absolutely loves the smell of it, however I wasn't sure about the brine.

Cheers

Hi ,

Yes you should be fine as long as you drain it and only give it too him as a treat occasionally.

You can get tuna in spring water too. Wink

Jules.

no to brine...if you want to give him tuna try it in sunflower oil..my vet told me tuna wasnt worth giving em it..cos it hasnt got anything they need and its a bit high in protine<sp>

i give cassie sardines in sunflower oil...or tomato sauce she loves it andit has a good dose of fish oils for her

but if your furbaby only likes tuna give it once in a while but not in brine
hope thats of some help...im sure others will be along with advice too

tuna is fine as long as its well drained.
max gets sardines in tomato sauce a couple of times a week which he loves and as elle says is good for the fish oil.

We have given Hally tuna (in sunflower oil) and rice when she has had a bad tummy in the past (on the advice of the vet) - she adores the smell and taste of it - although she hasn't had it for a long time - have recently bought some sardines to try - the fish oil is good for their coats (and probably joins as well Very Happy )

I have used the Tuna in sunflower oil to make tuna cake for Henry, instead of Liver (can't bare to touch the stuff) and he loves it. Drained off all the oil though, with exception of 1 tin.

He loves it ..... very good for training.

My lot love Tuna but I prefer to feed Pilchards, sardines and mackeral. These have all the Omega 3s which can be absent from tuna and are very good for dogs joints and brain

I was told off for using tuna sardines etc for an upset tummy (too 'rich')it had to be white fish cod haddock coley etc- but it didnt seem to make much difference and Jets tummy always settles and he's a fussy monster. Its one of the ways I get him to eat when he's being awkward.
I would be paranoid about bones in white fish- its the only reason I eat white fish in 'Fingers' or 'cakes' form only!! Not ideal as I've seen them made when I did summer work for Birdseye!!!!!!
