Hi

After a couple of weeks struggling with Mia and her eating, she has now gone onto Burns Adult Food. I spoke to the Burns Helpline and they advised me to change her over.

Mia is now 5 months old and weighs 18kg and still on 3 meals @ 70 - 100g per feed, depending on treats etc. She gains at least a 1kg a week and is tall and slim.

Burns said keep her on 3 meals a day and up the amount, what worries me is at this rate she will turn into a right porker Embarassed

My ears are open.... tell me what and when I should cut her to 2 meals, also when should her growth slow down. At the mo all her food intake is used up by growing.

All/any advice welcome.

Thanks from Karen and the soon to be porker Mia

Hi we too have a greedy guts at home. Very Happy
We started to reduce Meg to 2 meals a day at around 6 to 7 months. We split her allowance between breaky and dinner.
She is now 13 months and her weight is in the normal percentage. Laughing

Hi I put amber on adult at just under 5 months. To start with i was feeding 3 meals a day, but with the puppy guidelines - 20g per 10kg (like you've been told), but as she got towards 6 months i gradually reduced this to the adult suggestion of 10g per 10kg and changed to 2 meals per day. Amber's very, very petite, so definitely not a porker Smile

oohhhh I wouls stick to the advice that burns gave you - they are fab. When you say trouble with her eating do you mean that she wasnt eating?

I still feed puppy burns atm (finishing a big bag off) and mix some adult in - Ruby is 16kg and gets 240g of food a day 100g at breakfast time and evening with 40g at lunchtime. I am weaning her off the middle feed gradually atm. Burns advise 15g per 1kg after 6months and then I will reduce again to 10g per 1kg when she is 1.

Mia was getting funny about eating, she would eat a little and then stop and the only way i could get her to eat anymore was put the rest in her mole cube.

I think it's all tieing in with losing teeth ( she lost 3 in one day) her mouth must be sore, she has always loved her food. And being off her food is sooooooooooooooooooo unlike her

I'm no expert karen, but I would worry about Mia having such a low protein amount at 5 months old. Most puppy food has twice the amount of protein as Burns adult food.

I have fed Treacle on this, I put her on adult food at about 8 months. Her growth has been really slow on Burns, but then this is what they say is best. I would still think they need a higher amount while they are still growing though.
