We have finally managed to get to the new agility club after missing 5 weeks due to illness. Coco loved it but she was rather naughty
I got there early and took her for a walk around the cricket field where we did some wonderful off lead stays, waits etc and she was being really good. At the beginning of the session we did a few minutes of obedience which she was pretty good at apart from being nosy and looking around at the other dogs when she was supposed to be doing a sit stay.
Then we started the agility. I put her in front of the first jump and she just bolted straight across the cricket field to find some other dogs to play with She came back after a sniff and she was pretty good on the equipment. She did a few repeat performances during our session and I think her concentration had gone by the end of the hour but overall she wasn't too bad.
She has hardly moved from her bed since we got home at 2pm (except when I got the carrots out to prepare for tea - maybe I should take them to agility with me ). I was pretty exhausted too though.
brilliant news that you have been able to go back - I would hate to miss too much agility! Coco was clearly thrilled to be back too - hope she manages to listed more to you next week
I don't know if she is stiff today but I certainly am. There were six of us in our group to start with but by the end some of them had gone off to do their good citizens training and there were a couple of OAP dogs (one was 14 and still doing the equipment )so there were only 2 of us left, doing a full round on a slight slope. How unfit am I???
I managed to do a few reasonable crossovers but I forget the commands, forget the course and get out of breath/tongue tied. Coco is going to have to slow down for me.
Oh well done Pam!! Glad you and Coco are getting back in the swing of things!
Luna can only cope with doing about 4/5 full course runs a day as the rest of the stuff going on in the environment is just so tiring eg having a bit of an allowed play with dog pals, toileting, saying hi to human pals, waiting her turn,...! Think it's that rather than the actual agility that tires her!!
