The new lf helpdesk has been installed, I am tweaking the look and functionality now
It will hopefully launch either today / tmrw in Phase I
In Phase I you will need to create an account on the helpdesk in order to allow tickets to be logged and emails sent to certain email addresses will be harvested and converted to tickets
I have paid the developer to customize the helpdesk to make it integrated with your LF user accounts so it will auto login to helpdesk which will make it much more useable IMHO
hopefully this will speed up access to us and improve the way it is handled
Think national company and logging a call with the IT desk ladies.
You know where you email or call up, get a log/ticket number and then sometime soon someone will close your log before you really ever get your problem solved.
Then you'll chase your log number only to be told computer says 'no' it's already been closed.
Then each month there'll produce some stats that say they are responding to all tickets within 24hours or something and isn't it all working fan-dabbydozy?
::::shuddering::::: at the memories.
Sorry admin, not for one minute saying your system will work like this, just trying to paint a picture
but to ask a further dumb question, errrrrrrrrrrrrr why would we need a help desk on LF ???
sheila and zak
Maybe its so we can go direct to Admin when we have problems with our subs?, although for that to work people would still have to go through a friend in rl cos they can`t post themselves unless they create another account and that illegal here
the helpdesk is to allow easier access to Julie, myself and also the people who help out in other functions on the site such as Health queries and Rescue queries
not only that, it also means less issues with emails getting lost, emails getting blocked by junk / spam filters etc as it is all web based and so members as well as staff can check in and see quickly and easily status of queries
The end result should be quicker access to staff, faster responses by staff and happier members all round
You will be able to use the helpdesk regardless of whether your account is subscribed / expired / renewed or even as a non member (although in the latter case you would need to create a helpdesk account) so this to will alleviate any subscription issues.
On the subject of subscriptions had another look today and it seems new susbcriptions are working A OK, but renewals sometimes do not work so will carry on checking into this over the weekend.
