Hi All. I want to buy Poppy a Dublin collar but I don't know whether to go for the medium or large. Her neck is 15.5-16 inches (varies a little each time i measure her!) but obviously this is without two fingers inside the collar to avoid it strangling her!! the collars don't have any size overlap which is rather daft - the medium is up to 17 inches and the large is 17 inches plus. I think the medium would fit her fine now but not sure whether she will fill out much over time - she is 16 months and I don't think she has really grown or filled out in months. Help - i don't want it to only last 6 months but neither do I want it falling off her.

Also, I read somewhere that dublin collars sometimes stretch - has anyone had any trouble with this?

Thanks

I had the same dilemma when buying one for Bracken as her neck measurement was bang on 17 inches. I went for the large and glad I did as it means there's plenty of 'extra' collar to loop through the D-ring and other loopy bit (if that makes sense). With the medium on the last hole, I think you'd be left with a little bit of collar that wasn't long enough to be tucked neatly into the D ring.

Yes. They stretch. I've never attached leads to mine, because even the most minor pulling would stretch them and I generally use slipleads,
but over time just general use has seemed to stretch them a little bit anyway. I put mine in the washing machine regularly, so I guess the temperature of the water might've had something to do with it?

I read on another thread somewhere that Dublin are apparently bringing out a new range of collars soon? With clips and a different fabric?

I'd be inclined to go for a large. I think the older collars stretched, but they're constantly developing and working on these issues. They're currently receiving new stock at the moment with new designs - we're looking forward to checking them out!

thanks - there is a particular design i like at the moment which I'm keen to buy. I've never seen them in a shop though - can you only buy them online? If I could try one on her it would be so much easier! I think otherwise the large sounds like a winner - would I be able to add an extra hole if need be??

We bought Theo a large Dublin for his first birthday. He was just on the edge of the measurement at the time and we decided he would grow into it, I've just remeasured his neck and it's now 18inches with no fingers so good job we bought the bigger one. He doesn't wear it all the time just when we know he's going swimming etc as it did split a little round the holes. I also didn't trust it not to stretch when we had him tied up when we went camping so bought red dingo one for that purpose which he wears most of the time.
