Hi,

Toby- yes the famous Toby from the Introduction's section, is at it again! This time he has taken to liking porridge for breakfast (porridge oats, soya milk, no sugar) and, we were wondering if this is a safe food for him? He loves it!

Also, we were wondering if cooked, cracked wheat is OK for him? We had some for dinner the other night and we tried it out and he loved it. The dinner was cooked minced beef (tomato puree and oxo), with cracked wheat and braised cabbage. He loved it all.

Must get around to posting some photos - he has grown about a kg per week - now he is 24 kg and 6 months old. He has big feet - so watch out lady labs, Toby is getting to be a big boy now. Wink

Hi........just to give insight......grain of any kind is not part of the normal canine diet......its introducton to pet foods as filler is strictly a human intervention for convenience.... it certainly will do no harm as a treat....but would not suggest it be a regular part of his diet......good luck.....

As an occasional small treat, I can't see any of it doing him any harm.

I know mine get left overs of all descriptions from a very young age and I'm sure this has given them fairly sturdy constitutions.

Dogs are amazing creatures really, who can get some nutrition out of most food. I've known dogs live off human scraps all their lives and those lives have been long and healthy. You just have to be a bit careful with things like salt (in the Oxo) and some foods which are poisonous to dogs in large quantities (Onions, Mushrooms, Chocolate, Raisins, etc).
