hello , as my puppy grew to bin level, he could stick his head in and help himself,( the lid swings down to open,) so I took to putting it up on the work surface, I got fed up with it being up there, so I smugly bought a bin with a lid that flipped up to open,........which took him all of 60 seconds to get his head into !!! Next came the peddle bin......... and he mastered that in no time !!!! What next ? lock and key ....any one have bin stories or solutions then ????

Hi fazer

Winston age 4 and Oscar 2, raid the bin still - Winston steels nuts, socks, tissues you name it but Oscar only steels things off Winston (such a good boy Smile ) Anyway if the bin can be knocked over and the contents spill out then you're straight onto a loser. I've now resulted in putting the rubbishish in the wheelie bin - daily and just getting rid of the kitchen bin use a carrier bag and take it out every time you go out - problem solved .... unless you don't have a wheelie?

Our 'bin' is a supermarket carrier, safely put on top of the cooker hood (good job I'm tall) Taken out a few times a day to the bin outside, with lids, kept on with bungy (sp) cord Rolling Eyes

As you can tell we have a bin thief Laughing

Our bin has a lid, that produces a specific clack when closed. Lenni knows (of course all our labs know) that he isn't allowed to raid the bin. Therefore, he ignores the bin if someone is around. But when I go to the bathroom and close the door I can immediately hear the clack of the bin's lid.
One day I flounced out of the bathroom to find my dog standing beside the bin with this I've-done-totally-nothing-and-I-never-would-do-anything-I'm-not-told-to-do-mien. Back in the bathroom, after closing the door, I heard the clack again... but there's no chance to catch him red-handed.....

The first night I bought Corrie home at the age of 7 months he raided the bin so it has always lived on the side in the utility room!

A few months ago I bought myself a new pedal bin, tall one and it wouldn't fit on the utility room side so I put it on the floor in the kitchen and guess what ............ Corrie (nearly 13 yrs old now) raided it ! Smile

So the bin now sits on the side in the kitchen Very Happy

Yep I have three bin raiders.

I got one that goes inside the cupboard thinking I had fooled them...

NO CHANCE Laughing

They soon learnt how to open the cupboard.

So now I do as everyone else. No bin just supermarket carriers and everytime I go out or let the dogs out for wee wees the bag goes out.

Obviously with things more dodgy i.e. take aways or chicken bones they go out straight away.
