Mollie was spayed yesterday , i know its a major op and she is probably very sore, she is resting quite a lot adn we are giving her lots of loves and hugs BUT she dont want to eat ok not a biggy problem but my main concern is she is turning away when i try to give her water. im getting concerned she dont want to drink is this normal??? i phoned the vet and they just said to keep an eye on her she even looks depressed and im now feeling very guilty for putting through the operation.

Aw I'm sure she'll be fine, anyone/any dog is bound to be a bit out of sorts after an op, just follow your vets advice and I'm sure everything will work out fine. Don't feel guilty, it is something many people decide to have done, in the long run it will be worthwhile. Don't beat yourself up about it

Hi Shelley
Please don't worry - Doobie is doing exactly the same to me! (you probably know he had an op yesterday too). Last night he wouldn't look at me all all - like it was all my fault! He also didn't drink at all yesterday, but i think that is down to the anaesthetic (don't they put a tube down the throat?) so he probably had a bit of a sore throat. This morning he is drinking a bit more but not quite as much as he usually does. He is still moping around although he is showing affection again towards me (thank goodness!!!)

It's all normal Shelley, she's feeling a bit sorry for herself, and why not! She will soon be back to normal. Take her for a walk up the garden and back to stretch her legs and ease the stiffness. Dont push her too much but dont let her get too stiff. A couple of minutes gentle wander to the top of the garden and back is enough to start joints moving and stretch tight skin.
Regards, John
