Milo went down with this on Sunday very very quickly and has been with the vet since then. Very down in himself and lots of bloody watery stools, though he's getting better slowly. No idea of cause but xrays show no obstruction etc and is likely to be viral (so they say).
Question is have others had dogs who suffered this and what was recovery like and which food are people using for a dog who is according to the vet likely to have a sensitive tummy.
Thanks

I havent got any advice I'm afraid, but just wanted to say that I hope Milo feels better soon and that you find a solution to soothe his tummy!

Hi gjp
My Milo had severe gastroenteritis with bloody stools and vomiting a while back and was left at the vet also for recovery but only for a day so it sounds like your Milo has had a really bad bout. I thought Milo's was bad as it continued relentlessly for a month - disappearing, coming back, disappearing, coming back etc etc etc. He was very down in the dumps also. He had so much chicken and rice during this time it was unbelievable! I tried a lot of things that did not help/work.
After his treatment which was some zantac syrup and 2 different courses of antibiotics, he appeared to improve but when I put him back on JWB (which was what he was on at the time) he began to deteriorate again. He was given more zantac. Then improved again. So some guys on here suggested Chappie as this helps dogs with extremely sensitive tummies and it did work wonders. Now I work it in with Burns which is a light biscuit so it is not too heavy on his tummy. I have noticed recently that Milo is now able to eat more things and has built up a resistance again, whereas before after his illness, he could not eat very much and every thing would set off diarrhea so I had major paranoia. Chappie is very cheap and it helped Milo as it is fish based and seems to be very light. Plus he enjoys it. I hope your Milo gets well soon and fingers crossed his tummy might not be too sensitive forever.
