I've noticed a real increase in Hartley's back legs trembling recently. He is still very fit and can run about without out signs of fatigue on a good 2 hour walk, but particularly at rest when he's standing, with or without having been exercised, his back thigh muscles have a more and more pronounced tremor - almost like Parkinsons in a human. He is very steady on his legs, doesn't trip or struggle to get up after a sleep particularly (or no more than I do!) and, other than we know he has a tumour and is lumpy and bumpy, he is in really good health.
I kind of expected that older dogs get a bit tremble-ish, but it's really apparent nowadays.
Can you just tell me this is ok and normal please?!

Can't help but, interested in any responses you receive.
Have noticed Luna sometimes trembles a little in her front legs, has done for ages, thought it might be muscle tremors or excitement. She's only 1 year old and in process of being diagnosed with elbow dysplasia, wondering if tremors related to this??

I dont think it anything to worry about Becs. It's something which some dogs seem to do. I don't think there is any link with Parkinsons, having never heard of this in dogs, and certainly with my own dogs who have developed a twitch it has never developed into anything resembling advanced Parkinsons. You could mention it to your vet when next you see them, but I dont think it's something to make a special journey over.

Becs it could be a sign of arthritic pain. We do see it in Zen who has hip dysplasia. If we stop on a walk and he has to stand around for a while he gets really uncomfortable and you can see muscle twitching . See if some anti inflamatories make any difference and then you will know if it is related to pain.
