Right, now you've helped me so much already, but I need you all again
I have the free 6 weeks cover but am looking ready for when thats finished
From lots of searching the forums Morethan, M & S and Petplan seem the most popular. My vet also gave me a leaflet from Lifelong.
M & S £16.14 a month (£7000)
Petplan £20.20 a month (£4000)
Lifelong £22.49 a month (£6000)
These three are all covered per year
Morethan was the cheapest at £11.99 a month (£7000)
This one I think is per condition?
Now I obviously want the best but also the best value. If I went for the cheaper one (morethan) would that be enough cover? Does anyone have this and could they confirm if its per condition or per year!
Confused That makes two of us

Hi
Yes i have more than. It is 7,000 per illness for life. So if your dog when young got an condition ie HD this 7,000 would have to last his entire life (chances are with this condition you would have to end up paying out your own pocket). But it is 7,000 for every different condition. You only have to pay the £70 excess for that year not each claim if a different illness / injury in same year.
I have just made my first claim it came to nearly £350 the vet sent the paperwork off and within a few days i got a cheque back of the insurance for £275, it's as easy as that, don't know what my premium will be next year though.
A word of advice, your vet can issue you with a prescription (but he probably won't tell you, or will charge for it), find out what drugs you are being prescribed as you can get them via vet internet companies a lot cheaper hence your 7,000 will last a lot longer, my vet now ex vet over this same thing charged me £143 for tablets which the exact same ones on the internet are £43.00. NOT ALL but some vets ie mine, hear the words Insurance and take you for a ride BEWARE.
Hope this helps,
Lesley & Barney
(sorry about the rant about my EX VET but i am still really mad about it)

I have just switched Jana form petplan to Direct Line, I currently pay £28.00 per month just for Jana, I done it online and got the unlimited per £6000.00 cover for Jana and Macy for less that £20.00 in total per month for both of them
I have been with them for years and Twix only costs me £25.00 per month and she is 13!!
They do pay vets direct but they do take a wee while to settle claims and they based in the UK

get a quote from axa too (who used to underwite marks & spencers)
also ask your vet which companies (if any) they are happy to be paid direct by.............. as that will save you having to lay out any money in advance if there is a large claim?
