I activated George's 6 weeks' free insurance with the Kennel Club earlier this week and received the paperwork through today. The cover looks reasonably good (except the fact you have to pay £50 plus 10% of any claim as excess) so I thought I may continue with the policy after the free 6 weeks. BUT - they want £30.95 a month!!!! I insurance Alfie with More Than with a good level of cover for £10.49 a month!

How can the KC justify such high costs??

Vicki

Hi
I was quoted more or less the same with my Barney, i think it's a case that they get you to sign up at the start just in case you forget after 6 weeks.

I now have Barney insured with MORE THAN (like yourself) as they seemed to have the best cover at the time, it was £15.29 but just gone up to £16.99 i have made one claim just after it went up and they paid up straight away deducting the £70.00 excess for that year.

I have all four of mine insured through Tescos pet insurance.

I have them all insured for £28.00 a month. This covers me for £4.500 pounds of vet fees, per dog with an excess of £50.00. The kennel club insurance seemed very steep to me.

I should shop around as you obviously did with the others.

I do not have any cover for death, well £70.00 per dog. I wasn't interested in that part. It makes the plan cheaper. My main concern was vet fees.

Could you let me know Bombers pedigree as he looks absolutely stunning. Would love to know more about him. I am hopefully going to L.K.A with Milo.

Vicki - More Than do 5% discount plus the online discount for second and subsequent dogs if you give them a call Very Happy

Worth doing it about two weeks before the KC insurance runs out to cover all eventualities Very Happy

I didn't continue with the KC Vicki - as other posters have said there is cheaper to be had - however, one word of warning, some policies will not cover you for ongoing conditions - in other words they put a limit on it, and some will not allow you to claim for a certain condition once 12
months of claims have passed !

Edited for sp.
