I did it!! I didnt bottle out - it was touch and go this morning, I was feeling sick with worry and more nervous than when I sat my a-levels!!!!!!!
Ruby is 9 weeks old tomorrow and is now proudly sporting a tattoo in her right ear.
I think she was more worried about the other dogs (the tattoo 'parlour ' was a kennel) yes she yelped, yes it must have hurt but literally for 1 second and we were back on the car all wags licks and back to normal. It is exactly as mommy described in Tillys tattoo as if you accidentally step on their tail or paw.
We got home at 3.30pm and she hasnt bothered with it at all - not scratching it or anything else.
I am SO relieved and pleased that i have done it Now I think I deserve a big glass of wine - chipped and first injections thursday tattoo today - what a stressfull week - for me I mean ruby breezed through it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats great Vicky, I think we always worry more about whats happening with our "kids" than they do!, after all they have no idea til it actually does happen, we have the build up , Good to hear Ruby is now fully covered identity wise and should the worst happen you will be so much more likely to get her back
Better at this time of year for tattoo`s too I think, poor Tilly could`nt go in her pool for two weeks, in what turned out to be the hottests time of the year, I still think she was`nt impressed wearing a pink shower cap!!
Ruby isnt going out until beginning of december so keeping her dry should be relatively easy - I hope. Lets just hope I can keep her from running around ears flapping in the pouring rain - at least for 2 weeks anyway.
Good feeling knowing I have protected her as much as i possibly can - nothing ever 100% i know - but until they invent that GPRS tracking device for dogs then chip and tattoo will have to do.
Rubys tattoo is just visable today on day 4 - just thought I would post this as I was quite anxious that is wasnt visable. I know it tells you up to 14days but I could see NOTHING that resembled a number.
Just in case anyone is as loopy as me and ever has similar anxiety after their tattoo's thought I would share

Thanks, this is very useful as I am having Buddy tattooed soon, and he is very reluctant to have his ears inspected. I had a long chat with the tattooist, who was a lovely lady, and very into dogs, and I feel a lot happier about it. I'll post to let you know how he takes it!
I am sure Buddy will be fine - they dont 'fiddle' with the ear at all so it may not be as difficult as you think (I didnt hve this to deal with as Ruby so little - any touch at that age is welcome isnt it )
Day 9 and her tattoo is gettting clearer and clearer - really can read the number now althought they advise it takes 14 days to develop.
Also Ruby was tattoo'd with black ink - not sure what they are proposign with Buddy but it does show up fine in case you get black ink too.
