Had both our dogs weighed today and really just need to know the correct weight of a lab.
The vets im not sure if they really know.

Sandy 2 years old next week spaid bitch weighs 31.49kg show type build

Gunner working type 17 weeks old dog 14.75kg

Is this about the right weights.

Its very subjective, depending on build and size, Indie's a large girl, 24" high at the shoulder, deep chest but only weighs about 30kg, but she's very lean and fit, which is a good job because any extra weight wouldn't be good for her as she had to have one of her knee joints rebuilt. Tau's a little smaller, and about 5kg lighter, and is very lean and fit too.

I think our oldest lab was about 30kg before we got the pup as we used to take her on really long walks.
But the pup can't walk that far so i think she may have put a bit on as her walks are a bit shorter at the moment

oooh, extra padding, I've got a bit of that too!! We have to keep an eye on Chloe's weight, our old foster girl, she struggles on her back end some days and doesn't burn as much energy as the other two, so she gets much less to eat.

You really can't go by what the scales say, as Labs come in so many different shapes and sizes.

If they have a visible waist and you can feel the ribs (with a light touch, not having to poke through the flesh) but not see them, then they are about right. Wink

Lucy is nearly 9 months old and weighs 28kg. The vet said she's in really good nick, although I think she'll get bigger as there seems to be lots of excess 'skin' for her to fill out! Shocked

But can feel her ribs with a light touch, and she's developing a nice waistline, so hopefully, she's ok!

Different for each one i'd assume!

When I was researching prior to choosing a lab... I found a few resources that suggested a lab should weigh somewhere between 24-32 kilos as an adult.

As with all resources like this... its a mythical range of weights.... you just have to ask a handful of people here and you'll get weights from under and over that range. So... its really more by the look and feel of your dog. You will know yourself just by looking... if you are completely honest withyourself! Wink wether or not your dog is overweight.

As an example... my dog... is 13 months now... and at last Vet weigh in a week ago was 24.2 kg! Thats 4 kilos less than Lucy... and 4 months older!!!!!

I agree Feebarn, and if you look at the photo's on here of Lucy, you'll see (hopefully) that she looks perfectly normal! (she was the largest bitch in the litter and grew very quickly in a short space of time)....

Just like us humans, they're all different in their own little way....
