I was very surprised to see when registering my current litter online that there are three pups from the previous litter that are still registered in my name. I spent quite a lot of time going through all the paperwork and explaining clearly (I thought) what was necessary to register the pups in the new owners name.

Have others found that you still have pups from previous litters registered to you? It certainly makes it look like I have an awful lot of dogs Shocked .

how strange? does that mean they didn't bother to send the KC stuff away????

I always presumed there would be something the breeder had to do too that confirmed the pup had been sold to me!

Have to admit I am guilty of this where Cindy Westie is concerned, never did get round to sending her papers off, so she`s still registered with the lady who bred her Confused , she`ll be 11 in 10 days so I think its a bit late now Smile

Yep - it is not that uncommon - particularly if they have gone to pet homes - unfortunately there is no law that says they MUST transfer Sad and some may feel, if they are not going to be worked / shown etc, then knowing they are registered is sufficient - and they just don't feel spending the £12 is justified (even though they may have spent anything up to £600+ to get the pup.

When I checked my online account, think it was when I was ready to register Zac, nearly all of them were not-transferred (bear in mind there is only 3 months between the pups and Zac) - I chivied them along, and now all but two have been transferred - and I know that Ellie will be, her owners wanted to wait until they have moved house.

All you can really do is nudge the puppy buyers - unfortunately, you can't force them Sad

It's up to them really. I did my bit when I explained and signed the paperwork for them. The dogs are rising two now so I guess they are not going to bother but I do find it very strange that people who as you say have paid a fair amount for a good quality pup do not bother to tranfer ownership.

But then people never cease to amaze me!

Edited to say very few of mine go to pet homes the majority go to working homes, but probably do not compete, so I guess for working as peg dogs and picking up dogs the transfer of ownership doesn't matter.
