Maudie is now 19weeks and 50% of the time she will poo in her crate at night and quite often eat it as well! Crying or Very sad I'm not really sure how to stop it. Should I feed her later? At present she has 1 weetabix for breakfast and then Autarky at about 1pm and her dinner at about 6pm. It seems quite a long time from dinner to breakfast so I suppose feeding her later won't be a problem but am reluctant to leave such a long gap from lunch to dinner. All in all I'm confused! Confused Please help! She is also by no means dry at night but I can cope with that , as hopefully as her bladder control improves so will her weeing!
Carolyn

dont know why you are feeding weetabix, however, dog should only need to poo twice max 3 times a day if on a good quality food. their motions should be regular and so its a matter of changing the routine and working round it.

personally I would make the diet consistent across the day, 3 feeds at say 7am, 12 and 5pm , each of 1/3 her daily allowance of her feed. i assume she doesnt goto bed really early, and ensure she gets a little gentle exercise/training time late on and then some time in the garden to sniff about and hopefully do her business. trick is to find the pattern, and timing. e.g. dylan I know will do his business imediately after morningfeed, and about 1 hour after last feed of the day. this has been the case since we sorted his colitis problem out.(chicken intolerance)

hope that helps.

Hi Carolyn

First of all I have to say how lovely Maudie is....such a cutie Very Happy

I have a similar routine to the advice given by dylansdad. Kobi eats 7am, 12pm and then 7pm so he can hopefully go to the toilet before bed (11-11.30). When he first got Kobi, he had been eating at 9pm and was pooing in his crate over night.

Also as Dylansdad said, why is he still eating Weetabix - I would not have thought that this was necessary after weaning..but I could be wrong. Question We feed Kobi complete dog food only (not at the mo cause he's got a colon infection) but this was the vet/breeders advice.

Maybe speak to your vet for feeding advice - good luck I'm thinking of you Very Happy

I was having the same problems but i logged down for 3 days at what time she pooed/weed after eating etc and it cme down to feeding times for me as someone said.
I know a few ppl with labs and they swear by the cut off time for sups as 6pm Confused this i suppose only works if it fits in when you get up etc and last time at night for loo
I now give Rosie her last meal at 7pm and dont give her kongs and treats while we are in bed as this makes her defacate during the night! ofcourse she will be given treats etc when big enough to go without needing the loo

Wish you luck !
