Hi All,

Does your lab have hip dysplasia or OCD?

We would be very grateful if you could answer the attached survey, which will allow you to choose one of the options.

Please answer in view of the labs you have now, and not of those you may have owned in the past.

If you have more than one lab with either of these conditions, the poll doesn't give us the chance to select two options, so if you could reply in the thread then this would be appreciated. (Please state colour of lab too)

Thanks everyone for all your help in this survey.

For those of you who are unsure on these two conditions, here are a couple of links:

HD (Hip Dysplasia)

OCD (Osteochondritis Dissecans)

Hi Julie

I too would be very interested to see the outcomes of this survey, not because I am an expert, just a nosey devil.

Having read the links I am guessing there would be symptoms, Hally has exhibited no signs so far, and having had both her hips and elbows scored and coming in at 16 (just above the average) and 0 respectively, hopefully there won't be too many problem; I suspect that any potential exacerbation of the hip scores was partly through our ignorance when she was as a pup, wish Lab forums had been around then.

Sue

With a zero for elbows Sue you are clear of OCD and provided the hips are reasonably even, with a score of 16 you should never get a problem there either.

Regards, John

Both Labs Black
One bitch hips 0-1 elbows 0
second bitch hips 3-4 elbows 0
I would be very interested to see the results of the survey.
Regards Meg

hi.. i have a yellow lab with ocd in his 'wrist' joint (don't know the correct doggy name for it!), which our vet said was unusual, but also less severe - dexter likes to be diffferent!! would be interested in hearing if anyone else has experience of ocd in joints other than the elbow??
thanks

waiting with interest to see the outcome of the survey Julie.

My beautiful mischievous Sherps was diagnosed with OCD of his back knees when only 7months old... now with this epilepsy and larangeal paralysis... i wonder what else he has to put up with?? but i have to say despite it all he is the most wonderful loving and faithful funniest companion and key-holder of my heart that i could ever wish for....

oohhhhhhhh the littleb***er has just run off with a tea towel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
