Here is some information about the rescue that you would be raising funds for
I know many of you will already know of the wonderful work that many tears do & would like to thank Tammy for this info
Harriet

Many Tears Rescue
Many Tears Rescue is a small family run rescue based in South Wales, run by Sylvia and her staff and volunteers. They mainly take in ex-breeding dogs, but also help with some of the death row dogs from various pounds. They aim to take in and re-home unwanted or unneeded breeding dogs. By doing this, this prevents them being dumped or even worse being killed because they ‘so called breeders’ have finished using them to make them money. These dogs are normally very scared, having never been on a lead or collar, never inside a house, do not know what toys or love and kindness is. Some of these ex-breeding dogs are then lucky enough to go into a foster home so they can start learning about these things, the others which are in the kennels at Many Tears are groomed and cared for by the helpers and staff and they start to teach them to love and trust us as much as we do them. The other dogs from the pounds are normally saved on their last days on death row before being put to sleep, just because they are the wrong colour etc. Some of these dogs have been put in the pound because it is cheaper than putting them into kennels, after all they can always get another dog when they get back. Others are just thrown out in the mountains like rubbish to defend for themselves. Sylvia helps as many dogs as they have room for. Her husband runs a dog kennels on the same land, just to help them financially to pay for their living accommodation etc. At Christmas, he turns away paying customers in order to let Sylvia have the use of extra rescues at this terrible time of year. In recent months, the Dogs Trust have withdrawn their financial help to pay for these dogs at Many Tears and other rescues around the UK to have them neutered before going to their new homes. This is now going to cost Many Tears £75,000 a year extra in order that they can continue to neutered their charges before going onto their new homes, knowing that they animals are safe from reproducing anymore unwanted litters and adding to the high levels of unwanted dogs.

Have cast my vote Very Happy

I'll obviously be doing this without Boo Boo but will participate none the less. I'll get loads of pity sponsors too with my dodgy knee Laughing

Can I get some forms asap as my Mum can put them in her surgery for her patients?

Hi Katie,
The Nw walk is either going to either be
South Pennine Water Trail
or
Rivers and Ruins

Info on both walks can be found
http://www.manchesterscountryside.com/interactive.asp

The deciding factor will be which people choose 5 or 3 mile

Hope that helps
Harriet
