I have seen lots of dog supply websites with Vet Beds on and I have heard plenty of people say they are great and their dogs love them......whats the deal with them? Are they a good thing to get?
Seem fairly pricey for what appears to be a fluffly rug? Are there alternatives, or good places to buy cheaper?
I rate vet bed very highly, although nowadays I use a cheaper alternative that I get on Ebay which is equally as good
Its easy to care for as you can just throw it in the washing machine, drys fast as well. Harvey has it in his crate and I have various pieces strategically positioned around the house where he lies
we bought a waterproof stuffed matress type thing for dylan, now he is toilet trained we got one the same size as his entire 42 " crate....washes/wipes clean and is so soft and thick he sinks into it..... should have heard his snoring last night ..........although that may also have been down to the fan we had going to keep him and darek (rabbit) cool.
have tried the vetbed type stuff but found with all the shuffling etc it got scrunched up in a heap in the corner
Darcy & Coco have Vet Bed. It's good stuff, stays dry if they have an accident and is really quick and easy to wash and dry. Darcy does tend to ruck hers up a bit sometimes in her crate but she doesn't seem to mind laying on it all bumpy

Was just about to post to ask exactly the same question!. A friend of mine recommended vet beds, and i've been wondering how good these vet beds are - great to hear you all rate them highly, i think my next stop will be ebay!
There is a vast difference in quality between the 'true vetbed' and the poor imitations. The original vet bed is expensive, does not ruck, is robust sturdy and last for years. The cheaper imitations, ruck, can be chewed and last for approx 6 months. This is one of the times where I am actually happy (well only just) paying out. I am sure I have tried all of them and the only one I use now is the expensive 'original' vet bed.
Kay's right, it doesn't just ruck up on it's own, however, mine is the proper vetbed but Darcy still manages to ruck hers up - she stands in one corner of her crate and digs it up towards her
