If anyone has any advice, it would be gratefully received. My lab Chico is 15 months, and had very mild OCD from Jan 07. No surgery required, he has been on Synoquil that cured him completely by May, and he is bouncing around like nobody's business now. I have today tried to insure him on "life cover" with PetPlan, as his first year insurance runs out 1st November. They said, after taking 30 minutes on the phone that they will not cover him for any future arthritis in his elbows, they were absolutely inflexible. Never mind it was very mild, never mind he is perfectly fine now, they would not budge. Could someone advise as to who I might go to for insurance who might be a bit more undertstanding. OCD does not always mean arthritis, but I want him covered for life. Please could someone advise me, this has really upset me this morning. Thanks so much.

Hi sorry to hear of Chicco's earlier problem, but glad he is so much better now.
Having had problems with Pet Plan in the past we are with a company called Animal Care, which are very good. The assesors are all trained vet. nurses, so you are at least speaking with somebody that understands. As far as I know most comapny's will not insure against a known health problem, but will cover you for other things in the future. They could be worth a call we have always found them very helpful. If you can't find them on the net let me know and I will dig out their contacts for you.
Good luck

I wanted to change to pet plans life cover too as Archie has severe allergies, which cause skin problems and inflammatory bowel disease.I was advised to stick with sainsburys who have been excellent as if i changed these conditions will not be covered, which i completely understand, why would they?
Are you not happy with your present insurer?

Archie is my first dog so we had no idea we would have these health probs, but we are covered for £6,500 per illness with sainsburys, but if we ever had another dog we would get petplans life cover which i think is £25 a month

good luck

Jackie and Archie
