Neither are infallible - so both

That way one compensates the others possible failings.........

A really good thing would be Iggy`s owners suggestion yesterday, a tracking chip!

I recently had my girl tattooed. Been main source of identification in Europe for 40 years and in this contry alone has reunited 1000 dogs...it is a subtle but visable tattoo in the ear that does not require a ' reader ' to see it........so whether it is a member of the public, a dog warden, kennel etc it matters not whether her chip is scanned or lost or migrated.

Just another safely measure -

Hi Sophie, here`s the link to the thread where Rhoni (mommy) recounts her experience of getting Tilly tattooed.

This link tells you where your closest one is - hardly any vets do it yet and some seem dismisive of it. The link below is the UK National registry and supply the tatooists.

I am not knocking the chipping process, I just chose to have both done.

I have one tattoo'd and one microchipped! I got Darcy tattoo'd because the vet said I would have to wait until she was bigger to have her microchipped - I wish I'd known about the tattoo when Coco was younger because we actually lost her twice and it was only luck that brought her home Rolling Eyes

If Coco wasn't so old and grey I would probably get her tattoo'd too and I will probably still get Darcy microchipped when she is older just to be that bit extra safe.

Sarah, Coco & Darcy
