A friend of mine is interested in a litter of pups and the stud dog is a 'Niaken' Labrador. Does anyone know anything about this breeder and their dogs? (It would be a pet dog- not for showing or working)

Thanks in advance,
Becs

From what I know, there is no reason to fault them, however, how much is known about the Dam of the litter?

Do you mean Naiken labs, Becs?

If yes, then i think your friend would be very happy having a dog from the breeder and it would be a good choice! Very Happy

Hi Becs - Yes very reputable and respected breeder. Jackie Hodge also judges at champ level and has dogs which are shown and I think they are worked as well. Know at least one has the title Ch.

Would think they would make great pets - most are PRA tested also and hip scored and eye tested as matter of course. Go to this link to see more http://www.champdogs.co.uk/ and if you don't go directly to Naiken, click on Breeders and then look for Naiken listed on the left (along with a few others Rolling Eyes ). Think she also has a puppy available from her last litter so you can find her also by clicking on puppies then going to kennel page.

Naiken have some lovely dogs Becs. Your friend could do MUCH worse for a pet dog. Jackie Hodge is a lovely lady - very helpful breeder and judge.

I had an interest in one of her stud dog's litters but the dam wasn't my cup of tea sadly. Lovely boys though. Jackie has used Di's Dylan before. I think he's Quincy's grand sire (I think). I particularly like Quincy and Kris who's a SH CH.

Which stud is it and who is the dam?

Thanks for the information - I'll pass it on to my friend. I don't know the dam's pedigree but apparently she is hipscored and eye-tested.
My friend has enquired about 2 litters:- one being a pup from the Naiken-Stud litter and another being from a gundog breeder (in the loosest sense of the word!!)who is selling his pups off now at £275 as he wants to go away this weekend and needs to be shot of them ( Shocked ) and who doesn't believe in hipscoring and all that nonsense! ( Evil or Very Mad ) I told her Charlies story and she has decided to stay well clear of a 'bargain puppy'!

Thanks again!

Becs and the Gang

Quality kennel, work hard for the breed and on the breed. Good dogs, every box ticked.

Jackie Hodge has really lovely dogs, she shows them and does obedience with a few of them I believe. Most hold their Show Gundog Working Certificates too, not a easy thing. I think their bitch Russian Rythmn has just gained it (have to check - I am sure someone will shot if it is wrong) so went straight to being a full Champion not a Show Champ.
My friend had a beautiful litter from Kris (extremely well behaved and biddable dogs they are) plus lots of substance.

Good luck to your friend.

JO
ps they do have a page on Champ dogs which I think also shows Rebecca Jackie's daughter who is (was - she is over 21 now) very active with Junior handling

Excellent - thanks Becs. Hopefully another one saved from heartache and expense. Our bargain pup has cost in the region of £8000 now!!
