Hi
Can anyone please help. We are going to Florida in January for 2 weeks, and I am in a real quandry over what to do with the dogs. I have been looking at dog-sitters, but every now and then I get panicky thoughts about them escaping whilst out on a walk, (they pull on the lead and their recall is not great!) or about them wrecking the sitter's home.
My common sense is saying put them in kennels. At least I'll know they'll be safe. But I have now visited about 6 kennels, and I am far from impressed. They all seem dingy and damp, the dogs look so sad
Most of them take way too many dogs (70-100!). I was near to tears looking around them and they're just not good enough for my girls.
I have done oodles of googles on kennels and come up with nothing I could use. I don't mind paying a bit more, but the problem is finding someone who only takes maybe 5 or 6 dogs at a time. I can't bear the thought of them having hardly any excercise and having to listen to continuous barking.
Does anyone know of anywhere in the North East, or I will travel...Cumbria, Northumberland, North Yorkshire.......I'm desperate! I need heating, at least 3 walks/excercise sessions a day and plenty of attention. Not asking for much, am I?
I did have a wonderful lady who looked after Rolo, but she's selling up really soon.
I found a kennel who takes only 6 dogs, they were perfect, but they're fully booked up until Spetember 2008!!
Any ideas please anyone?
Thanks!

Yes Rach, straight away, but hand on heart I thought my two might be too much, they pull on walks and are very strong (and not very obedient) I would really have trusted her too. They are great around the house, but do play very boisterously.
The kennels I always used to use for my last Lab Corrie was good - its a larger kennels but Corrie couldn't get out of the car quick enough when I used to take him there. I haven't used them for a few years but might be worth ringing and having a chatter with them
Triple A in Washington, I've never used the kennels here but did go to the puppy training classes (www.triple-a-animals.com). They have standard dog accommodation and luxury accommodation and you can pay for extra's such as an extra walk, cuddles, rough and tumble play. It's not far through the tunnel and opposite the Nissan factory - not sure it that's too far for you.
