Wish to get insurance for our puppy. Options so far -

Pet Plan Standard - £6000 per year , excess £80 - £26.66 pm
M+S £7000 per year , excess £50 - £25.33 pm
More than £7000 per illness/accident, excess £70 - £17.84 per month

So in making decision would like advice on costs of likely treatments ?
is £7000 per incident a lot ?

or is it better to go for the Pet plan or M+S with £6k, £7k respectivley per year available. What treatments would use these amounts up ? they seem fairly high ?

Any advice on best companies to use ?

Thks Ian.

Loads of M&S fans on here - have you looked at the no excess quote from them? Worth it's weight in gold! You'd be surprised at how many vet bills come in at £45!

yes its about £15 more if reduce the excess on the quote page to nil, but the policy document says excess is £50 so assumed £50 was min £50 excess plus my extra £50. is this not the case ?

Loads of people have been caught out with that, including me! It goes on about the excess all the way through the document, and then right at the very end says 'excess reduced to NIL' or something similar. We all rang up and checked on our second year!

Yep, no excess means no excess. Zilch.
So you can even claim the 11GBP consultation fee without feeling silly!
Very handy... you'll make your money back on the policy in no time... I made my money back on the policy just on our first billable visit after vaccinations etc... it was an emergency treatment on a public holiday, they're not cheap!! Smile

Hi i am with direct line and i have a £65 excess which seems alot but they insure Bailey for any condition and for as long as it lasts where as some will pay for a condition but if the condition reacuurs 3 years later some wont pay (each condition has a time limit) but direct line doesn't so i could claim now for treatment and then again in 5 years for the same treatment hope it makes sense and i also had a quote from M& S which was £25 per month but direct line is only £11 so with M & S i would be worse off hope it all makes sense... Sarah and Bailey

M&S is the same. I pay £197 per year for Pol. It would have been £187 with a £50 excess so I figured that the extra £10 was worth it.
If you go to their website you can check out the FAQ section and that should put your mind at rest.
