Our GR has been diagnosed with HD. All tests/xrays that were taken at our vets have been claimed for successfully directly between vet and M&S. All in all about £200-£300, so far. We have had no direct dealings with M&S ourselves.

A couple of weeks ago Rocky went to the specialists for more xrays and tests, this cost around £800. They were again going to claim direct. However, this morning we received a letter to say they were "assessing" our claim and they'd be in touch shortly. Personally, I'm thinking it's because it's a bigger claim than they previously were and from somewhere different. However, OH is convinced they're going to reject the claim (though as far as we're aware, there's no reason for them to).

Anyone any experience of this? Would be great if you could let us know how your dealings with them went. (I need to try and put OH's mind at rest as he is an awful, awful worrier and he quite frankly has enough to worry about at the moment anyway!! Wink)

Many thanks in advance!

We had a letter like that from them once when the claim was only about £40, but have never had it for any others. I think they do it when they get busy to let you know it's been received and they're dealing with it.

Our first claim from M&S was for around £90 for x-rays at our own vets.
We paid the vet and then claimed back from M&S. It took about a month to come through as they were checking his past medical history

Charlie was then referred to a specialist and we just gave them the forms to claim (thank goodness cos it was the full £7000). I think they just do their research to make sure there were no symptoms of the HD within 14 days of taking the policy out.

I'm sure you should be ok. We couldn't fault them

I shouldn't worry that they're going to reject the claim - its quite normal to get a letter like this.

Sometimes if a claim is over a certain amount & if its for specialist treatment, someone higher up the chain has to authorise it.

Hope you're sufficiently reassured already, but just to add that we've had a few of these letters as well, just a standard thing I think - I always put them straight in the recycling as all our claims have been between M&S and the vet, we've never been involved!

We got one yesterday too, we've just submitted a claim for £300-odd for Ozzie's emergency treatment over Easter and we got one of those letters too, think they're a template letter just to say "Thanks, we got your paperwork, give us a few days/weeks to sit on it before we send out your cheque".

Good luck!!

Ness

Kim,
Just to let you know, we got our cheque in the post today.
So hopefully yours won't be too much longer.
Cheers,
Ness
