Hi
Like most of us, I have gone around every company looking for insurance quotes over time - this morning I received a quote from More Than through the post (it is THAT time of year again) who appear to have been reprofiling their packages. They are offering a pet saver which is a huge reduction in monthly cost, but also have a standard offer which is £4 less than I was paying with Tesco and £2 cheaper than I am now paying with M&S
In addition, they are offering a 10% new customer discount and a further 15% for additional dog policies - from what I can see, definitely worth a closer look
Does anyone have any experience of them as a company? and dealing with claims ?
Sue I only have car insurance with them and have had no problems what so ever. They did offer me pet insurance on my three and at the time it worked out at roughly £7 per dog, including discount for being a customer with them, but I declined at the time.
It would be interesting to know what packages they are now offering for multiple dogs - touch wood I hardly ever need to use the vets - as things can and do happen.

When I looked at their policies before they were very comprehensive and seemed to cover everything - they do have a Saver Policy where the coverage is quite basic - I am afraid to tempt fate - but touch wood - have never claimed on any pet policy
but would still go for the higher cover "just in case". Obviously with Solo joining us next week, it would be nice to keep the monthly cost under control without compromising cover, and I think M&S have made substantial increases in their policies this year
I have some work to do now, but will speak to them later and see what they can offer for 3 labs
Sue I was with them orginally, only claim I made took about 14 days to come through. I had very tempting ' new customer ' offers also and succumbed to them. When renewal came around that benefire was removed and the cost went up on top..... and no reduction for 2nd dog at that time. AND a £70 excess
When I tried to leave them for M & S they tried to tie me up in a legal wrangle......even sent default notices ......I took them on they backed down. But would of prefered not to of had the fight in the first place......
When I changed over to M&S the policy was cheaper, no excess and even on renewal it beat More than.....still with no excess
I guess they may have changed their ways....will go look

Thanks for the warning Rhoni.
am not that worried about the excess - I hope I don't ever have to claim, but need to know we will be OK if I do.
They say on their paperwork they will pay the vet directly - I did a quote for Hally on M&S and it was DOUBLE what I was paying last year - this means that if that follows through to Clover and Solo then my payments would rise by around £40 a month bringing the bill to more than I pay for my 10Mb Broadband, Cable TV and Telephone line
I know how important good cover is, but at the same time, I am loathe to pay so much when I can get equivalent cover elsewhere T

That actuallt means nothing. It depends on the vet not the insurance company.
My vet ONLY deals direct with PetPlan. The specialist vet I have just used for Perro does NOT deal with insurance companies direct.
My two are insured with Direct Line. It costs £10 per month for each dog. The excess is £65 with a £4000 maximum per condition per 12 months. So far I've used near £2000 of Perro's allowance for his left cruciate.
There is better cover but at higher monthly premium.
Don't forget insurance companies are in business, whoever they are they they have to make a profit at the end of the day. Frequent claims will be penalised eventually.

Um - I am all to aware of that - assuming that is not directed at me- have NEVER actually made a claim

No, no, it's not directed at you or anyone in particular.
There is talk here about multiple claims and no excess and stuff. That's excellent for now but it won't contine, it will eventually affect the premiums for everyone else. Even M&S can't continue to offer such good deals. The premium increase is inevitable. They are not in business for our benefit.
I've made a claim against my pet insurance, it says in the blurb that there will not be a premium increase (next year) due to my claim. I shall wait and see.
Maybe contact M&S direct Sue and ask them what they`d offer to insure all three of your girls?, most places will work something out to be able to keep your business, specially as you havn`t (touch wood) had to make a claim for Hally and Clover so far

Of course it will - but also in turn, just like Credit Card companies, they will need to attract new business. It is a known fact that it costs around 4 times more to attract a new customer as it does to retain an existing one - for insurance premiums, that comes in the form of 'loss leader' offers.
As with everything in life, they are here to make money, otherwise they wouldn't be in busines, but at the same time, many of these companies rely on customer apathy for changing suppliers to push premiums up and thus balance their books
Whatever company you go to, you have to declare if you have made a claim with your former insurer
