Hi guys

I discovered yesterday that Fern when she had been left alone in the house for a while had wee'd in her crate. As I was taking out her bedding she got into her crate and started circling... I thought to myself "This looks like a poo dance" then she squated, I managed to say no and carry her outside and then she did it outside.

We make sure she goes for a wee at 10:45 then we get up at 2am, but this morning she had wee'd again in her crate at 6:50.

We normally get up at 7 but I heard her grumbling. It was a fresh wee so hadnt been there long.

She knows its good to go outside as she gets treated and when we ask her she does it. Sometimes she will do the tinyest of wee's if we have asked.

Any more tips? She will have been with us 3 weeks on Saturday and she is 11 weeks old on Friday

Im hoping she might improve when we start walking outside on Saturday?

Crying or Very sad

Honestly don't worry Smile

She is still only 11 weeks so very young. All dogs learn at different paces and at some point the whole house training thing will just 'click' with her.

If i remember rightly Basil was around 16 weeks before we could go a whole week without an accident and many dogs are older. He never really messed in his crate but some dogs do start off that way - just carry on with what you are doing.

When you said you heard her grumbling though, do you mean whining or just scrabbling around.
We used to hear Basil do that at about 7am and that was always our signal that he had woken up so we needed to as well to let him out.

It sounds like you are doing your best and she will start to really get it soon im sure Smile

Aww, bless little Fern, she sounds like a real sweetie!
Don't worry too much about this little lapse - they do happen and although it feels like you're back to square one you're not really. Asha was 18 weeks before she was completely clean at night (in fact our last little present was on Christmas morning 2005!).

I would just take a little step back with her, and maybe go back to letting her out at 6.30 again in the morning for a few days. As Sarah says, she is still very young at 11 weeks and the whole "cross my legs" instinct is still developing!

And walkies soon, eh? What fun for you both! You may fing she's soooo pooped after that that she'll sleep through anyway Wink

Stick with it, she will get there!
x

I would lift her water around 8-9pm as this will lessen the need to wee during the night.

I did this with Majic and it worked fine and it does not harm then if fit and healthy Very Happy

She has eaten through the cardboard box sectioning off her crate this morning and wee'd on the other side of her sleeping quarters... Crying or Very sad

Any ideas on what to use instead of a cardboard box?

Hi,

personally we never sectioned basil crate off (and it's huge), i know some do but some of us don't.

you can buy proper metal dividers for most crates i think.

Now she knows there's another room to her boudoir any temporary fix like cardboards will probably just be a fresh challenge she'll enjoy removing Smile

maybe try without?

I never sectioned Jess's crate off and thankfully we only had 1 wee on the 1st day so was extremely lucky.
Is her water bowl in the crate at all ? If so, like Carroll said stop her drinking at around 8 pm

Good luck xxx

I used a plastic bin and put it on its side to section Rubys crate (she hated it though so we left it big after one night)

Just a thought what are you cleaning the crate down with? Make sure you use a biological cleaner - biological washin powder solution I think works (someone please clarify or correct that please) or I used special spary called simple solution. If it isnt biological the scent reamains so smells to puppy like their toilet place.
