I was at a show at the weekend and I saw a lady spraying something on her boxers nails?

also I saw a black lab with a dull grey looking coat, and her owner was wiping something over the coat with a rag, which made the dogs coat shiny? does anyone know what they where using?

Whatever, KC rules say that nothing should be used on the coats which affects texture or colour. I know it does happen but it should not and a few years ago they tighened up on things to a large extent including banning the chalking of terriers. (Athough judging by the snowstorm effect these days when a terrier shakes people are ignoring the rules!!) Water to settle the coat is about all that's allowed.

Regards, John

I've got a spray called 'Velvet coat' which you spray on the fur to give 'a soft velvet finish'. It does make her coat lovely Very Happy However it kind of sounds like the person you saw at the show may have been breaking the rules Rolling Eyes XX

I use tea tree oil spray on my dog, and wipe it over with a chamois leather after. I am trying this out at the moment because when at shows ellie has white specks in the coat.........I think some people call it dandruff.

I know absolutely nothing about showing but just thought I'd mention Collett....I'm a great believer in tea tree for superficial wounds and stings etc. but I'm not sure of the benefit on dry skin, which is the most likely cause of the white specks. Tea tree is very drying to the skin so you may be making the problem worse. I could be wrong mind but I do use TT on myself sometimes and it is very drying on my skin.
