I first met Kate when I met my husband 6 years ago. She didnt get much of a look in then, Stan was about 3 and took all the lime light while Kate looked on with "I dont believe he is doing that!" kind of look! Kate had been with my husband since she was a puppy and had spent many many hours out with him shooting. She was the best behaved dog I have ever met, and a real softie. Kate was not the most attractive of dogs!! A bit stragly looking, grey muzzle and funny little ears, but she was beautiful to us.

By the time I met her, she had retired from being a gun dog and spent most of her time by the fire or in any comfortable place. She was beginning to tollerate Stan (how the tables have turned for him now!!) he was a very live wire, a typical "andrex" puppy.

Kate was extremely crafty and good at pinching things (food!!) and kept this up until the end.

There is so much I could tell you about this wonderful lady who's life ended in March of this year. She had been suffering with arthritis for a while and could not go out much, last winter she sported a very fetching coat for walks and one of my fleeces (adjusted to fit of course) for in the house.

She was 13 when she died, she suffered a massive stroke one morning. Luckily we were both off work and were with her at the end. One of the memories that will never go from my mind was having to say goodbye but we knew that we had to do the kindest thing.

Stan pined terribly and would not eat - this resulted in our little pup katie (now 9months old). She is the best tribute to old Kate but will never replace her.

She deserves to be remembered and we always will.
