Well Kyra is going through her phantom pregnancy after her first season. and the vet suggested to let it do its course. She seems to get anything there is to get and try bless her. We have been going in and out the vet since we had her and I can only say, thank god for insurance. She is taking a long course of AB for a growth on her chin, like ingrown hair, and it is now finally gone but the vet fees fro just that have been around the £300! The AB are very expensive... I think in all sice I have had her the fees mount up to nearly £700...He he he...
Poor Kyra, our vet let Fudges phantom run its course it seemed to last forever. I did find that entire dogs continued to really interested in her through out and kept trying to mount her which she definately didn't like.
None of mine have ever had a phantom, but I have heard that you should not fuss too much, and try to get them playing and active, exciting walks, the jolly hockeysticks aproach lol, Hope she feels better soon, and lets your insurance company have a rest

ohhhh noo bless her - when did she start doing this crissi? Poor little girl - hopefully all the acitivities you have planned for her this weekend will take her mind off her hormones lots of hugs and kisses to her and you from us xxxx
Oh Poor Kyra....this hormone malarky is a right bugger.
I let my girls phantoms run their course too, I just kept an eye on their swollen mammary glands to make sure they didn't start a mastitis. I would just gently lay my hand on them to feel for any really hot patches or very hard swollen bits and thankfully I never found any. Try not to rub her tummy as this may stimulate her milk production and keep her really busy...lots of walks and extra games and no mollie coddling.
Oh I know opinions differ on this, but on the rare occassion that mine (Tara) did adopt a cuddly toy, I didn't take it away from her. I found this made her distressed and anxious, as then she was wondering round looking for her missing baby. The whole baby thing only lasted a couple of days anyway and then she realised that it wasn't real.
Zadie's phantom was left to run it's course too (as she'd already been packed full of steroids for something else!) and, after what seemed like forever, it just suddenly went away! She was on restricted exercise too which didn't help.
Tell Kyra that Zadie says it will all be over soon (but then they whip you off to the vets to be spayed )
Thanks everyone! He he he, she is lovely, we went out for our long walk tonight as usual and she loved it, she seems to have forgotten about her toy since back. She has been following us everywhere with it in her mouth for the last couple of days. I have only noticed her nipples with swelling behind them in the last couple of days. She has been demanding with her paw to fuss her tummy which to begin with we didn't think any of it out of ignorance on our part , I now know that it can stimulate milk production... We ony fuss her chest now...She is not aggressive at all with her toy or anything so we will just have to wait and see the end of it. She has been jumping up to people in the last 2 days on her walks, getting me into trouble.. A stupid lady kept a toy right up in the air so off course kyra kept on jumping up trying to reach it...Made me angry as she could have put it in her pocket, I know Kyra shouldn't jump up in the first place but she didn't help at all...
Anyway, sorry for waffling a long post...LOL... Thanks for listening...
Oh poor Kyra I didn't have this with Majic but she was very hormonal after her season and it seemed to last till she was spay and then she went back to loopy Maj
