We have just been notified of a profeesional gang of dog thieves that are ' working ' the west coast of Wales.

Dogs are being stolen on a daily basis and the majority are Pedigrees....

The recent ( today ) thefts were 2 brazenly stolen while on a beach....

Please be on your guard and keep your pups in sight and preferably on long leads etc until these vermin move onto another ' patch '

Vermin is an understatement. Hope they get caught soon. I feel so sorry for those who have had their dogs stolen, it must be the worst thing.

Thanks for bumping this Jane, it is a very worrying time and everyone, not just Wales residents, need to be aware.

These profesional gangs quite often steal to order......and, as hard and upsetting as it is to know / read......the stolen pups quiet often are out of the country within 24 hrs.

Europe pays 7K for a ' full ' working Lab......whether they work or not, only need to look the part.......and they are generally lost for ever.

How, I hear you ask? Well there is no requirement to prove ownership of the lab on your backseat at ports Shocked Shocked Twisted Evil only on entering the UK...which sadly is very rarely the case with these poor dogs.

Many go via Ireland and the Isle of Man and some have turned up in Japan, which pays 14K....... Twisted Evil

So, feeling mean by keeping your pup on a long lead doesn't really fit in the equation does it?

This is the gangs ' main day job ' 24/7, very lucrative and their ' wages ' ensure they hunt out dogs every day. When they have exhausted West Wales they will move onto somewhere else.

They often ' case ' the place first, so be aware of seeing the same face often in previous days and / or anyone showing an unhealthy interest in your dog.
Some will even ask questions about them.....chipping etc.....or just use the ' awwwww isnt he cute, are you going to breed ' primarily this is to find out if they are entire or not.......they use many tricks....
One of their lures is plain old basic food, nice smelly sausage etc......as soon as the dog is close enough to grab...bang it's all over.... Twisted Evil Sad

AND there are many gangs like this.......currently Essex \ Kent is high profile as in such easy access to the tunnel and Port.....

This is not scaremongering, is fact and these low lifes are everywhere.....never be complacent.....

no probs rhoni Wink
im gonna put a sticky on this one as its important to keep reminding members to be extra carefull with thier furbabies.
now the lighter nights are with us i have noticed a lot more people out later at night taking their pups for that last walk and romp before bed time.
as its much quieter at this time of night with not so many people around to help if needed, its an ideal time for these "low lifes" to strike Evil or Very Mad

so be aware people! you love your dog!
others want your dog Evil or Very Mad

OMG Thats terrible!. When we had Gracie chipped I said to our vet that both our dogs will be tattooed too. He laughed at us saying that we really were worried about them going missing.

Thanks for the warning. We are off to Wales this summer in the caravan taking Ebony with us so I will now be extra vigilant with her (not that we aren't already)
Would hate to think she could be stolen from us on holiday.

Although we are going to North Wales, I know that is doesn't take much for them to move on to another place when they know they have been rumbled.

I'm scared. #Puppy dog crybaby

Ok, I'm going to ask the very silly question, but why do they pay so much?? With so many lab breeders around, they can easily buy 1 for much cheaper! Not that these people should be allowed to buy 'em. angry4 angry5
