My friends were at show at Ardingly yesterday and bought 2 slip leads for their labs, 1 year old and 6 months. I thought these were only meant for showing and working and could cause damage if used out on every day walks especially with dogs who pull. Am I talking nonsense again or can they be dangerous?

Lorna

I use slip lead all the time and wouldn't use anything else but Rufus doesn't pull. Is this cause or effect I don't know as he's never pulled.

Most people I know use slip leads and their dogs don't pull either.

i use one all the time too, you need to make sure its on the right way though like a choke chain they dont loosen if on the wrong way...
lillie will pull slightly when we first get out, only to the extent of the lead though, i wouldn't use one if she was a propper puller like her sister, for the majority of on lead time though she walks with it slack around her chest.

I use a slip lead all the time, also.

None of my dogs pull,as above, not sure if that is due to the lead or just good luck.

I cannot see why they would be dangerous if used the right way up Arcade Arcade Arcade Arcade

they should be fine if used properly! The metal loop needs to hang from the lead, like a letter P.... depending on which side the dogs on.
