I will give more detail than that
I have a box thats
73cm high 68cm long 42cm wide
It weighs about 40kg.
Inside the box are lots of other boxes. Each containing all sorts of rubbish. Basically all my lifes possessions, which commercially are worthless but to me are priceless.
I have also stuck in there a box of food stuffs (Tea, biscuits coffee) worth about £130.
I guess in total the box is worth 300-500 GBP max.
I want to know the cheapest way to send it from post code CV5 6ET to Zip Code 14414.
I have asked my BIL (who works as an account manager at DHL)
I have asked my company who ship our press tools in 50ft containers but that seems a bit pricey
I have asked the post office but the max they ship is 30kg
I have asked 3 online companies but laughed when I saw the prices
Any Ideas anyone?

Would it be worthwhile splitting the contents down into two containers and using the Post Office? Not knowing the prices involved?
Also have you checked out the rules about importing foodstuffs in the States? I know the Australians are fearfully fussy about food entering the country - in luggage at any rate.
I would take the most important personal stuff in luggage - you can always buy more clothes when you're there.
But make sure you weigh everything, as excess baggage is an absolute killer!

to be honest I hadnt checked. But its all unopened, dry and sealed. So I cant imagine there would be an issue.
I dont have many clothes so am only taking one bag to the states with me, Linz is the same, so we each *could* take another 20kgs each.
Might be better to do that.
hmmm

I have a company account with TNT, DHL, Spatial, Expeditors, Geodis Wilson and Geologistics. All of them with upwards of 20% discount. None of them seem to be a reasonable price.
Post office is £190 x 2 boxes
Im not paying more to ship stuff than I would to fly there!
My flight is £299 and I weigh 92kg and am about the same "size" as the box.
I'd sooner buy my stuff a seat and a meal and have it sat next to me on the plane!!
Grr @ Shipping companies.
Worst comes to the worst i'll throw it all away

average quotes have been around £320.
Sea freight. I'm not in a rush for it to get there.
But is still too much!
I will have to put on my negotiating hat!

Def pop it into smaller boxes.
Try sevenseas - I used them to bring stuff from Oz to the UK and they were fab.
Also go to the TNT website (backpackers magazine from London) and look at theior classifieds - use a cheap shipping company that the backpackers use and you will save heaps.
I shipped 9 boxes (they do not weigh them, they just go on size) and it cost me £680 - I reckon you'll only need 3 boxes so will prob cost a couple hundred quid. That's with Seven Seas.
