Hi guys. I have narrowed it down to two insurance companies, both which seem to offer excellent cover. Halifax and M&S. Please post if you have dealt with them or heard good/bad things. I am going for the top cover on both. Many thanks.

I'm with m and s and just about to make a claim so will update you with how they are with that.
This claim will be for £265 but the excess is £70 which is a bit of a pain...

Don;t know anything about the Halifax
But check very very carefully that you get lifetime cover and not per condition cover....
The difference is with lifetime cover you get £x per year irrespective and with per condtion you get £x per condition
So with Neo I am with LLoyds and get £3,000 per year - so far this year we have had his allergy (ongoing condition for the rest of his life), anal glands and his weird lethargy thing
I ahve £3k to spend and so far have spent £2,600 with at least another £100 to go yet fortuntatly the renewal date is 21 sept...
If that had been per condition I would ahve had £3k for the diarrhoea, £3k for the anal glands and £3k for the weird lethargy thing
Only Neo has been claiming for the diarrhoea/allergy for the past 5 years now nearly - and we claimed about £2,500 if not more in the first year...
Each year I claim the best part of £1000 for dog food - plus all the consultations etc although since he was diagnosed those have stopped currently - but the year before last again I claimed the best part of £2,000 on the wretched vet who I fell out with...
So that is why I think lifetime cover is so important because if you get something like Neo has, each year you get the same amount of money whereas with per condition cover once you ahve spent that on the condition it is no longer covered...
Years like this one can be a bit tough but generally we have managed...
And that is with a dog like Neo that is not happy unless he is ill!!
Hope this is of some help
Eve Neo and bramble
