Hi, we've had our yellow lab pup, Fonzie, since he was 9 weeks old, hes now nearly 15 weeks, he always barks at other dogs even if they're bigger than him. He's due to start training in the next couple of weeks and I'm sure he'll just bark at all the other dogs, is it just normal puppy behaviour that he'll grow out of?!

hi
firm no no each time he barks at other dogs . is he now out on a lead ? if so when you use the word no make sure it is in firm voice, along with a gentle tug of the lead. increase the tug level if this persists, reward when he or she has done well.
a good training class will help you along the way. a good tip is keep a treat in your left hand close to lead . i tend to use home cooked sheep liver as it has a strong smell , use this when other dogs are approaching or near by.
once this has method has been grasped by your dog and yourself reward the dog with praise and treat.
hope this helps good luck

Hi, thanks for your reply, yes he's on a lead, i'll continue with my 'no's'!!
He doesn't seem to take any notice but I haven't tried the treat thing so i'll give that a go. It is early days, perhaps i'm being impatient, I always think my dog is the only one barking!
Thanks again
