my pepper has just jumped in a very green still pond!

Having a walk in our local woods in Stevenage, and pepper has just gone head first in a pond. It is very still and very green and I am very worried. I have washed him down!! But worried. I know that green algae ponds are not good!! Didnt have time to stop him and he didnt respond to my recall - he sees water and I might as well not be there. How long does it take for any symptoms to show. Worried.

It's Blue/Green Algae which causes problems and this sits on the surface of the water. One of the things it causes is irritation almost instantly....Is he itchy at all?

It may be worth a call to your local council offices to see if the area you were walking is known to be affected.

I agree with Jules, it is supposed to be an instant reaction.

No he is not particularly itchy I gave him a bath as soon as we got in. It has been a couple of hours now and he does seem fine, eaten his dinner and had a lie down in his crate. Will keep him on lead from now on near there.
