My puppy Shona is 9 months and loves rawhide chews. They used to take her quite a while to get through but recently she's been motoring through them! So I bought some bigger bones and she still only takes a couple of hours to eat them. So I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on how many of these it was advisable to give. At the moment I tend to give her one at the weekend and maybe a small one during the week but now they don't last long. I'm not sure on the calorific content so I don't want her to put on weight but they are good to get her chewing!
I tend to give mine maybe two medium sized ones a week.
Have you thought about maybe trying her with a Kong in between, which you can fill with all sorts of treats etc? Or the other thing is fresh bones from the butchers?
Hi, Thanks for the post. Yes she has Kongs too and a few other bits and bobs. She doesn't need extra chews I don't think, she's definitely not chewed anything in the house or car, I just know how much she likes them so wondered how many other people usually give!
Two medium sized a week sounds like a reasonable number though, will probably stick to that!
