That is such an awful story Sad

Perhaps it would be better to have Licences brought back in and then the Police might actually take this seriously. I'm sure if I had a stolen car sitting in my drive I wouldn't be protected by the DPA Evil or Very Mad

Hi Sarah

Yes it is dreadful and there are plenty more like it, this is developing into a huge problem.

It is not only the theives that we have to be aware of but also the very people that are in place to protect and return our pups.

I've just read about Penny. I can't believe it! You pay these people for the privilage of having your dogs chipped so if they get lost/stolen they can be reunited straightaway... just what's going on with this country Rolling Eyes .

Sadly Karen IF, and only IF the dogs are scanned most companies deal with it by post ie: chipping companies to owner....... Is 7 days long enough we ask?

Thats before we hit the DPA prob which is unbelievable

As a subscriber to 'Your Dog' for many years I shall indeed be putting pen to paper. I want to see an article in there on this and warn owners of potential problems.

I can't believe that if our beloved pets were scanned, and they have contact information, that they actually notify you by post! Shocked

Something must be done about this the 7day window for a dog being in

a council dog home before it become their property is not long enough.

You may get the letter from chipping company on the 8th day and by this

time your dog may have been sold ot in some cases PTS.

I had a very fortunate experience with microchipping.

My dogs decided to go walk themselves. It so happened it was the day after their tags had fallen off. They were found at 11am by the dog warden, at 2:30pm he called me (unaware of the goings on) to say that I luckily had my dogs chipped as he was able to trace me and they were in my arms by 6pm!!

Mine are 3.5yrs old and the chip has not moved. Its checked regularly. I have only had positive experiences and guess I am one of the lucky ones.
