My Ollie was just the same an A1 shopping bag inspector when I came home with the bags.
Even worse was when we took him with us, if there wasn't enough room in the boot for the shopping and some had to go into the back with him all you could hear was rustle, rustle hom checking out the bags as we drove home.
I'll never forget the day when I once got back from shopping, Sasha was about 3 or 4 at the time, and as usual she would come and greet me when I opened the front door.
She then came out with me to 'help' mummy bring the shopping in. However, to my surprise, when I opened the boot, in Sasha jumped - ON TOP OF MY SHOPPING!!!
One of the first times I got a Tesco delivery when we had Corbie, the bags were in the hall and I was taking them into the kitchen. Corbie picked up one of the lighter bags (for some reason the packers like to put one item per carrier bag on some occasions!) and was dragging it along... with a bit of coaxing I got him to bring it into the kitchen!
On another occasion I was taking the bags through and when that was done, walked into the lounge to find what looked like a bomb site... the new TV magazine was shredded all over the floor - guess who had found that in one of the bags!
The only help I ever get with the shopping from Dan is rather more basic - I was bringing bags in and when I went out again for the last bag he was halfway through the large lump of mature cheddar....

It's like a military operation when I get back with the shopping! It goes something like this:-
1. Park car
2. Go into house and put Smudge in the kitchen
3. Go back out to car and leave front door open
4. Bring all shopping in in little stages (I only go once every 3 weeks or so so there's always loads!) and put it in the living room, with Smudge watching through the childgate
5. Let Smudge out and quickly move all the bags into the kitchen (removing his snout from them as I go)
6. Shut myself in the kitchen so I can put it all away in peace!
Smudge watches from the other side of the childgate - he normally gets lucky with a new toy or a treat but it is a bit of a cafuffle (sp?!) to try and put everything away!
Best of luck with the house - I know it's a very stressful time but as Mel said, you've always got the gorgeous Bradley to help you through (oh, and Dave of course!).
Hi Nic, that sounds spookily like us, with the exception of the child gate! We go to Sainsburys every week so have fewer bags, but it's still a free for all when Shadow is let out of the kitchen and we move the bags into there!!
Good luck with the house, Julie & Dave, fingers & paws crosssed here
