a while back i asked help for my Chocolate Lab who was accidently mismatched by a local neighbourhood mongrel who jumped our 6ft fence
the vet gave her 2 injections to prevent pregnancy, in case she was , what followed after about 3 weeks was Bloody discharge, lost appetite and Ruby was really unwell. After2 visits the vet decided she had got pyometra and an instant op was carried out to spay her and remove any infection etc. She seems to be recovering very well it is now 10 days since she had op. However, what i really want is any advice, her behaviour has reverted back to 12 months ago she is constantly demanding our attention wants to go out all the time. keeps barking at us seems extremely lively .........its as if she has been rejuvenated...Dont get me wrong it is wonderful to see her well and recovering but she is acting so strange....she wearing me out is this usual for this to happen after such an illness and this operation anyone else had these problems

Hi Anne - oh so glad she is all ok now pyo frightens the life out of me. Is she back on usualy exercise? After Ruby was spayed she was onlead only exercise for nearly 2 weeks and she was like a box of frogs after the first week. Maybe your Ruby is just feeling on top form again and it will settle back down. I cant see the spay or pyo effecting her personality long term HTH

actually yeah, i remember sasha going loopy after her op and emergancy spay for the same thing,,,,
the vet brought her through to us ( she had been in for days) and she was sooo bouncy it was mad!! and the vet sternly told us she was supposed to be kept quiet!!!! not our fault we had only just come to get her!!!! but she was more excited for a few weeks of so after, wouldn't have thought she'd had anything done at all
