Tates Pedigree - John I have found it

Hi John, I have found Tates pedigree, he was actually bred by Mrs. P. Perrin, of Atherstone, Warwickshire, not Gwen Broadley. I think. I thought it was as the name was familiar to me. (Senior Moment)

Arr, a couple of interesting dogs in there! I’ve mentioned the famous Sandylands “T’s” so many times Tweed, Tan and Tandy, but here we have another, as important in it’s way. The reason we always talk about Tweed, Tan and Tandy is because they were all famous stud dogs so have many hundreds of offspring. Tandy was the result of a mating of Tan to Sandylands Shadow. But in fact that was not the first mating of those two! It was the great Gwen Broadley’s second mating. The first mating produced another great “T”, not so well known because this one was a bitch. Sandylands Truth was born on the 7th of October 1960. Truth became a show champion in 1962 and in January 1965 qualified as a full champion at the Beds, Bucks, Berks and Hants club’s Field Trial. Then in March won the bitch CC at Crufts! Brains and looks! Truth was mated to Reanacre Mallardhurn Thunder, and just look what she produced!!!! The bitch Ch Sandylands Memory, the dog Ch Sandylands Midas and the dog many people think the greatest ever Sandylands, Ch Sandylands Mark! Interestingly Tate’s pedigree brings together both Truth and her younger and better known brother Tandy! How interesting these old pedigrees are!

hehe also I found one of Sandylands Mark I think it was - and I was surprised he was black - I pressume the word sand must have translated to yellow in my brain somewhere.

Mark had a lot of the appearance of his great grandsire about him. A little chunky for my likeing, but a friend judged him in his heyday and has raved about him ever since.

I forgot to say thanks for that John. Tate was one of those dogs you will never forget. Most of my fondest memories of him was his obsession with water. It dodn't matter how deep or how dirty, he just had to be in it. He was just one of the those dogs you will never replace. He came across as a rather a thick dog, but he wasn't he was just extremely clever. He could weigh people and situations up very quickly and knew how to play things to his best advantage. He didn't have a mean streak in his body.
