I have had the priviledge of helping IRR with a couple of homechecks recently and want to say how wonderful it is to be a small part in re homing many unwanted and abandoned dogs.
Like Denise with her fostering, there are many ways in which people can support these worthy and worthwhile charities such as IRR, LRSEC and other worthy rescues.
I met a family last night who are just aching to welcome a new member to their home and hopefully their wish will be fulfilled by the end of next week, they lost their Golden retirever to cancer at the young age of 4 and wanted another dog but wanted the chance to give an abandoned pup a forever home.
I found this rescue poem and this sums it all for me.
RESCUE ME
Rescue me not only with your hands but with your heart as well.
I will respond to you.
Rescue me not out of pity but out of love.
I will love you back.
Rescue me not with self-righteousness but with compassion.
I will learn what you teach.
Rescue me not because of my past but because of my future.
I will relax and enjoy.
Rescue me not simply to save me but to give me a new life.
I will appreciate your gift.
Rescue me not only with a firm hand but with tolerance and patience.
I will please you.
Rescue me not only because of who I am but who I'm to become.
I will grow and mature.
Rescue me not to revere yourself to others but because you want me.
I will never let you down.
Rescue me not with a hidden agenda but with a desire to teach me to trust.
I will be loyal and true.
Rescue me not to be chained or to fight but to be your companion.
I will stand by your side.
Rescue me not to replace one you've lost but to sooth your spirit.
I will cherish you.
Rescue me not to be your pet but to be your friend.
I will give you unconditional love.

I don't know where you find these poems from but they do to me every time .
You're a good ol' sort though. Always ready to help others. I don't know where you find the time and the energy .

Nah, not really but thanks for the compliment, I do it coz it keeps me out of trouble Also stops me raiding the fridge out of boredom when the OH is on a Late shift.
The more I can do to keep myself occupied the better I feel, I don't have children otherwise I would probably devote my entire time to them.
As far the poems go I am a soppy old so and so and seem to get soppier and more sentimental the older I get

Well done Nat! As you know I also do a bit for IRR and in fact we have a gorgeous 1.5 year old labrador boy coming to stay with us tomorrow as a foster doggie, I'm sure that his details will be on here once I've had a chance to suss him out!
Didn't realise that you were helping out IRR now but well done you!
Lucy. x
P.S. Hope that Billy is still keeping Paul on his toes!

I thought it was just me that's getting softer with age .Barely a week goes by without me crying over something (mostly dogs or horses though).

Hi Lucy
How are you, busy it sounds with your hands full
I said to Pat to give me a shout if she needed any help and she asked me to help with a couple of homechecks one for IRR and one on behalf of CALL, I can't foster sadly as I have 2 dogs already, 1 rescue who is a bit hormonal and not very well behaved with other dogs in her house (other than Jack).
I am so pleased that I can do my little bit for these little Irish boys and girls .
Billy is adorable and Paul and I have spoken about him maybe becoming a PAT dog in the future, hows that for a turnaround, will keep you posted on that, but he is certainly keeping Paul on his toes
