Hi
I've recently switched Dexter (15 week old choc lab) to Orijen. He came to us from the breeder on RC, but was having problems with runny poos. Since switching to Orijen he's had terrible wind, and over the past few days appears to be having problems going to the poo. (Apols for having to be some graphic). Have read elsewhere that wind could be caused by over feeding, I'm following Orijen feeding guidelines but will try reducing a little. Have also read that part of the switching to Orijen can cause these side effects, and it may it may take 4 weeks to settle down.
Would appreciate any help or advice from someone who has been through this.
Both my boys are on Orijen and are doing well but they were both adults when swapped over. If they get wind it's normally down to other things that they've had like raw mince.
They occasionally do seem to strain a little when going but never had an issues caused by this and seem to be fine doing it. Just me who thinks they look more strained if that makes sense!

Would def reduce the food as my experience has always been that the manufacturers tend to recommend more food given than is needed - to see their food bought more quickly my cynical side says
Dylan is on Orijen and has no problems with wind unless he has been eating things he shouldn't
Just to give you an idea of amount fed, Dylan is 3 next Saturday, weighs 32 kg and gets 220/230gms of Orijen a day which I'm pretty sure from memory is under their recommendation.
He also has our leftover vegetables, treats on his walk and a couple of raw hide chews a day. Once a week he has a raw bone.
Thanks for the advice and letting me know about your experiences. We've cut down the amount of Orijen Dexter is having, and that seems to have done the trick. Although as I type the wind problem seems to have reappeared, so will have to keep an eye on what else he's managed to sneakily eat.
Finding the food amounts to be a bit of minefield, as when on RC he always seemed hungry and since the switch to Orijen hasn't been hungry and he loves the food. Will persevere.
we don't feed orijen but do give it as training treats ( doesn't cause wind in our girl), do you use chicken as a training treat, that gives our pup outrageous wind albeit wind with a vague poultry odour (sorry)
Pasco gets wind from time to time on Orijen, it smells something like burnt rubber! He hasn't the greatest guts in the world though, so isn't a great measure.
Hudson who has iron guts never gets wind and Zephyr has had wind, but that has definetly related to other and various things eaten!
