To All,
Firstly apologies for the intermittent state of the website this evening (well it's been mostly down!). It has been an absolute disaster of an evening!
Firstly, there have been some not too pleasant people deliberately trying to force the server down. This is nothing to do with labradorforums, it is directed at another website hosted on the same server.
Myself and Dave have been fighting to keep the unpleasant people at bay and just when we thought we have stopped the bulk of the problems, the people who host the server started having problems themselves (possibly due to the attack on the other website) which led to even more intermittent problems.
Once everything got back to normal (again), the server came under load again. We noticed that the chat rooms were in use on lab forums and appeared to be causing a heavy load on the server. So I am sad to say these have been disabled for the immediate future. 
As I write this post everything appears to be fine and the server seems stable with pretty much everything back up and running. We will keep a close eye on this and will revisit the chat rooms once everything has settled down.
